Usually I save my tumblr space to post a pair of to die for pretty sparkly shoes that I’m lusting after, silly pics of myself (on the rare ocassion I decide its photogenic enough to put out on the internets) or a review of a restaurant I went to the night before. I love making this blog about happy and pleasant things, and not airing my personal dirty laundry, but today I am just so disappointed and sad, and I feel like talking about it.

I am really lucky to have a loving family, specifically a mother who is amazing in every way and has provided for me all my life to the fullest extent, and a stepdad who is, to his core, a wonderful man who loves his kids and takes care of my mom. I know I am blessed to have a solid relationship and friendships with a core group of women that I care for and trust. However, there is something missing, and that something is a relationship with my own father.

Ever since I was little my father has battled various demons in his life that has caused pain, disappointment, and distrust to a lot of people over the years (many of them being close family members). As a child I was forced to deal with things that were way beyond my years in comprehension and maturity. His sickness has caused me to have trust issues towards people who don’t deserve it, and just general anxiety about whats going to happen next. It’s been a real up and down battle, but I have always had a soft spot for him because he’s my dad and I love him and want him to come out on top. For the past few years it seemed like he was really cleaning up his act, and as skeptical as I was, I was also hopeful.

Today he let me down in ways I didn’t even know were possible and aside from devastated and sad, I just don’t know how to feel.

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - A two-month-old infant is in serious condition after being ejected from a vehicle involved in a rear-end collision.

According to the Federal Way Police, the accident occured in the 33300 block of Pacific Highway just after midnight Thursday morning..

Police say the vehicles were headed northbound when the one carrying the baby was hit from behind.

Police say at the time of the collision, the baby had been taken out of a car seat and was being fed by one of its parents sitting in the front seat. The infant was ejected from the car on impact. The child was rushed to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, suffering a possible skull fracture. The parents were not injured.

According to police, the second vehicle was being driven by a 22-year-old Tacoma woman. They suspect alcohol was a factor. The woman was taken to the police station where she was processed and released pending the results of a blood alcohol test.

This makes me so so angry. Whenever I see a baby or small child out of a carseat, I am now for sure going to call the cops on those stupid parents!

Last night to celebrate the holidays, and to reward us for working so hard, our bosses took us out for a really fun dinner and drinks bonanza at Hell’s Kitchen restaurant. The sangria, food, and good conversation were free flowing. It was so nice to kick back and have a good time with the people that I spend the most time with, especially since we’re all usually so busy and stressed out.

I was really impressed with the restaurant. Their red sangria & guacamole was delish and the food even better. It’s a small place but has a great ambiance.

Pictured above: The delicious Hoja Santa crusted tuna tostadas with guacamole & pineapple salsa. Amazing!!!!

While I was on vacation on the west coast last week, I tried to pick up a few things here and there, as far as Christmas presents were concerned so I wouldn’t come back and be totally overwhelmed. Eventually, though, I realized I couldn’t fit another thing in my suitcase (and this was before I made it to Ghiradelli and loaded up on 47 million pounds of chocolate).

One of the things I came across (and sadly left in the store) were these lovely monogrammed stationary cards from Anthropologie. So happy to see them on sale on the website as they will make a fab gift for one of my ladies :)

I went home to see my mom last night and stayed in Brooklyn, which meant a lovely hour and 20 minute commute early this morning. These mornings make me really appreciate living in Manhattan because commuter consideration levels are currently at an all-time low.

If you ride public transportation enough (or at all in any major city), you will find a garden variety of the following:

The germ spreader: This person looks innocent enough when you get on the subway/bus, but not 5 minutes into your ride they start sneezing/coughing/hacking up a lung without so much as covering their mouth. Nasty looks don’t even make them bat an eyelash. They’re sick and miserable and want you to be also.

The avid newspaper reader: No matter how insanely packed the train car is, they are 100 percent committed to reading their morning paper, even if it means the person sitting or standing next to them is getting a mouthful of it. This person will always fail to fold the paper over even, holding it wide open like they are the only person on the train.

The ipod blaster: Sure I like to listen to my music loud like any other young person, and even blasting sometimes when I’m walking down the street or exercising, but I am pretty conscious of the noise level when I’m in a train car or on a bus because I can accept the fact that not everyone probably wants to listen to Kate Nash or Radiohead at full blast. The ipod blaster has their music on so loud you can hear the song as if it was playing on a radio right next to you. They are either oblivious or just flat out don’t care. Usually the second one.

The stink eye: This is the person that stares you down like you just made out with their boyfriend. They stare at you so hard and so long that you begin to wonder if you grew a third eyeball on your walk to the subway.

and my PERSONAL favorite…..(drumroll please)

the personal space invader: this person comes in many shapes and sizes. however, their intention is the same. to invade as much of your space as possible. winter is the worst because puffy coats, scarves and other items are thrown into the mix. i’ve had a personal space invader LITERALLY force me out of my seat because they were taking up half of mine in addition to theirs, in turn ramming me into the metal bar on the side of the bench of seats. Well played on their part, because I got right up and left.

While strolling around in Sausalito we came up to a restaurant window that had the most adorable gingerbread house in it. I did a double take when I realized the entire thing was made of pasta. Mini ravioli for the roof, jumbo shells for the doorway, lasagna bits for the windows, and bowties, penne, and rotelli adorning the rest of the house.
